When the Spanish Army arrived to Guatemala, the Mayans decided to protect their most valuable treasure… Jade. They hid the source from which they mined this precious stone and it remained lost and forgotten until one day in July 1977, when Casa del Jade opens its doors to the public.
Casa del Jade was founded by Gerald Leech, one of the four founders of the modern jade industry in Guatemala.
Casa del Jade currently has a total of 70 part-time and full time employees, being an important source of employment for Antigua and its residents.
Today Casa del Jade has the greatest and most beautiful Jade Collection in Guatemala. Fine products with high standards of quality, jades tested by the Gemological Institute of America GIA, and customer attention in several languages are what have distinguished us for years and have managed to place us as the unquestionable leader of the Guatemalan Jade Industry.
